Microsoft Advertising hires ex-Nat Mag executive to head specialist sales
Hayr will be responsible for expanding Microsoft's digital marketing space
Microsoft Advertising appointed James Hayr as its new head of specialist sales on Friday.
Hayr will be based at Microsoft's London office and will report to Chris Maples, UK commercial director, Microsoft Advertising.
He will be responsible for expanding Microsoft's digital marketing space and driving sales growth across video, mobile, gaming and advertiser tools.
Hayr said that he is excited about being able to "customise" ad solutions for advertisers. "I like my solutions team to be neutral in terms of product. It starts with insight and then the nuts and bolts follow, be it a video portal, Xbox or targeting," according to a report in Newmediaage on Friday.
Prior to joining Microsoft, Hayr was with UK consumer magazine publisher Nat Mag's cross-media division eNgage as the strategic sales director across all of its print and online titles. He was also a member of Nat Mag's senior management board.
Before working for the UK publisher, he had launched Emap2, the creative advertising solution division of another London-based publishing company Emap. Hayr was the creative media director at Emap2.
