Lindsay Lohan under treatment for Twitter addiction

Singer and actress has posted over 3,000 tweets -- including a topless photo she took of herself --

American singer and actress Lindsay Lohan, who is undergoing rehabilitation for drug and alcohol problems, is getting treatment for Twitter addiction, sources said on Sunday.

She is being forced to curb her compulsion to Tweet at the Betty Ford Clinic in California. The actress is currently only allowed to use her telephone for two hours a day, the source told The New York Post.

The Twitter ban at the clinic applies to all the patients staying at the facility and is meant to help the actress focus more on herself.

Lohan has posted 3,163 tweets -- including a topless photo she took of herself -- on her microblogging account so far.

She reportedly used the social networking site to tweet whenever she felt angry or lonely.

Lohan, who has 1.3 million Twitter followers, has not tweeted since 27 September, the day she checked into rehabilitation after failing drug tests, The Sun reported.
