News Corp to hire MTV exec for iPad newspaper

Murdoch is looking to tap into the expanding tablet market with a newspaper dedicated to the platform.

Greg Clayman, MTV's executive vice-president of digital distribution and business development, is moving to News Corp to manage its planned iPad newspaper, MediaMemo has reported.

The Rupert Murdoch-owned media company has been working on creating a dedicated subscription-based news service that would provide content specifically for tablets and mobile devices.

New York Post executive editor Jesse Angelo has also been reportedly chosen to handle the tablet venture's editorial role.

Viacom, which owns the MTV Network, announced Clayman's departure last week. "Throughout his tenure at MTVN, Greg worked hard to get our content launched on every new and relevant platform, and make our programming among the most widely distributed in the world," the announcement said.
