Revamped MySpace homepage resembles Facebook
Lagging social network site has makeover styled on rival to try and claw back user numbers
By New Statesman Published 13 August 2010The social network MySpace is revamping its home page to give it a less cluttered and neater look. According to reports, it now resembles its rival Facebook and sports a wider and more prominent users' stream.
In the new simplified home page, recommendations have all been clubbed together in one single section rather than being spread all around. There is also a "My Stuff" section which will contain users' photos, videos, music and events.
The changes are part of an overhaul of the site which once dominated online social networking but was quickly upstaged by the arrival of Facebook. MySpace, owned by News Corp, claims about 120 million users today compared to over 500 million on Facebook.
Myspace is being oriented to target younger users in the 13-34 years age group. MySpace president Mike Jones said a big overhaul of the site is due in fall.
