YouTube to host STV content

ITV's Scotland franchise will provide over 2,500 hours of content to YouTube.

ITV's Scotland franchise, STV, has signed a partnership with YouTube to provide more than 2,500 hours of its new and archival content on the video-sharing site.

The service to be launched later this summer will serve content via the STV Player channel.

Channel 4 and Five have signed similar deals with Google to make their catch-up service available over YouTube.

The STV content will be found in the TV Shows section on YouTube. It will also have its own dedicated channel and be available as a free download.

Several STV shows will be available shortly after television transmission as a catch-up service, including new programmes such as Lorraine Kelly's Scotland's Missing Mums and the Australian drama Underbelly.

Archives on the channel will include episodes of High Road and the music show Thingummyjig, as well as highlights of Scottish football matches.
