Google to set up app store

The store is expected to support around 40 languages and offer both free and paid applications.

Google plans to open an app store that would allow developers to sell apps for multimedia magazine content and 3-D games for the new generation of web browsers later this year.

The search company on Wednesday announced that the app store would be available both for its Chrome browser as well as the Chrome operating system, which the company is developing for netbooks and laptops.

The app store will support at least 40 languages and offer free as well as paid apps, Google said. It added that it would ask browser companies to participate in the app store.
