While talking to a UK student social networking site, The Student Room, Clegg said the party had been against the rushing-through of the bill without adequate scrutiny. However he suggested that persistent illegal filesharers should be disconnected from the internet.
Clegg called for more discussion on the bill, particularly when innocent people were at risk of having their broadband line disconnected for no fault of theirs. He said the bill favoured the big corporations and those who are worried about too much information becoming available on the internet. "It badly needs to be repealed, and the issues revisited," he added.
