Twitter registers 1,500 per cent growth in users

Over 70,000 registered apps have been created for the microblogging platform.

Twitter has recorded a 1,500 per cent growth in the number of registered users, the number of its employees has grown 500 percent, while over 70,000 registered apps have been created for the microblogging platform, according to the first email newsletter on the company's progress by the website's co-founder Biz Stone.

Company officials have revealed that Twitter will introduce advertising and other revenue generation models soon. Stone said the company will hold its first conference for Twitter developers next month, starting 14 April in San Francisco.

He highlighted how Twitter helped people during crises such as earthquakes. "Twitter is more than a triumph of technology - it is a triumph of humanity," he said.
