Google buys Picnik photo-editing service

Google has announced it has acquired online photo editing service Picnik for an undisclosed sum.

The search engine company said it will not make any changes to the site.

Picnik allows users to upload, edit and manipulate photographs through cropping, red-eye removal and other tools. It currently supports Google's Picasa web albums as well as other photo services such as Flickr, Facebook and MySpace.

Google may use Picnik to add meta-tags to images to make them search friendly in Google Images search.
