YouTube begins ads on its mobile version in US, Japan

YouTube has started selling advertisements on the mobile version of its website.

YouTube mobile reportedly grew by over 160 per cent in 2009.

The video sharing site is selling the new mobile banner ads on a full-day basis on the home, search and browse pages of the US and Japanese YouTube mobile sites.

YouTube's owner Google said that mobile ad tests with brands including L'Oreal and Land Rover "showed strong results related to click-throughs, user experience and brand awareness."
