Facebook beats Google News for loyalty, says report

Social networking site trumps Google News for return visitors to media sites.

Data released by online business and research firm Hitwise has found that 78 per cent of the social network site users return to print media websites, while Google News' returning visitors were only at around 67 per cent. For the broadcast media, social network site Facebook has a 77 per cent return rate while Google News only has of 64 per cent.

Although Google.com is currently the most popular source of traffic for news and media sites, it does not yield return visitors, according to Hitwise.
The data pertains to the week ending 6 March.
