The Wall Street Journal says in the new Twitter model, likely to be launched later this year, ads will be tied to the microblogging site's searches. For example, a search for a laptop may generate an ad for a laptop maker in the results.

The ads will be like tweets, less than 140 characters and distributed through third-party software and services. The microblogging network plans to share revenue with its partner services.
