Facebook users force Daily Mirror to remove war reporter’s blog

Around 5,000 Facebook members called for a boycott of the blog posted by Daily Mirror journalist Chr

Hughes in his post had criticised a charity motorbike procession in the Wiltshire town of Wootton Bassett, but faced with the protests the newspaper ordered its website to remove the blog. Hughes, an experienced war reporter, mocked the procession that took place last Sunday afternoon in which 15,000 bikers showed their solidarity with frontline troops by riding along Wootton Bassett High Street.

Wootton Bassett High Street is the hub of mourning crowds who pay their respects to hearses carrying the bodies of repatriated soldiers killed in the Afghanistan war. Hughes received death threats after he posted the blog and later apologised for the post.
