Every week Iain Simons chooses a game so you can while away a few hours - this week it's Hoshi Saga 3. Enjoy wisely

To ease us into the New Year, this week we have the next installment of a series we have visited before. Yoshio Ishii's utterly sublime Hoshi Saga received its third episode last September, and it makes an ideal companion for a cold January friday.

If you're unfamiliar with the saga I'd advise playing the first two a little first, the concept of the game is beautifully, disarmingly simple - but it can take a few levels to settle into Ishii's unique puzzle sensibility.
