New Statesman poetry submission guidelines

By New Statesman

We welcome poetry submissions, whether from established poets or new voices.

Please submit your poem or poems (no more than four) to poetry@newstatesman.co.uk including your name, contact details and a short biographical note.

We accept poems of up to 30 lines, but we encourage the submission of shorter poems. Submissions must be previously unpublished. If you have an unsuccessful submission, please wait six months before submitting again: submissions more frequent than this may not be considered.

There are no guidelines on subject matter or style. Poems do not need to be political in content.

Poems should be included in the body of the email or attached as a single Word document (do not send multiple documents). Please include your name and email address in the text of the document.

We are a small team, and it takes a significant amount of time to read and respond to submissions, so please allow 60 days for us to reply.

We publish a poem most weeks in the New Statesman. They are collected at newstatesman.com/culture/poetry
