Biotechnology Industry Organization
Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) is a biotechnology organization engaged in providing advocacy, business development and communications services to its members across the globe. It was created through the merger of the Industrial Biotechnology Association and the Association of Biotechnology Companies. The organization produces an annual BIO International Convention that attracts over 17,000 attendees from across the globe. In addition, it is also engaged in hosting various other meetings along with investor and partnering events globally. Some of the key progress made the organization includes successfully advocating the enactment of FDA reform in the 1997 food and drug administration modernization act, advocating for farm bill policy options, and advanced finalization of the FDA risk assessment on the safety of livestock cloning. BIO is headquartered in Washington DC, the US.
