Telecomunicacoes de Sao Paulo SA (Telesp) is engaged in providing fixed-line telecommunications services in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo. It offers a range of services that include local services, intraregional, interregional, and international long-distance services, data services, pay TV services, and network services. The coompany offers pay TV services through DTH (direct to home) satellite technology and multichannel multipoint distribution service (MMDS). At the end of December 2008, Telesp`s telephone network comprised 11.7 million fixed lines in service, 2.5 million broadband clients, and 0.5 million pay television clients. The company offers its services to three principal customer segments, namely, residential, commercial, and public sector. The company is headquartered at Sao Paulo, Brazil.The company reported revenues of (Real) BRL 15,978.99 million during the fiscal year ended December 2008, an increase of 8.50% over 2007. The operating profit of the company was BRL 2,885.66 million during the fiscal year 2008, an increase of 6.94% over 2007. The net profit of the company was BRL 1,803.97 million during the fiscal year 2008, an increase of 4.82% over 2007.
