SUNY Downstate Medical Center (SUNY Downstate), formerly known as The State University of New York Health Science Center, operates a College of Medicine, Colleges of Nursing and Health Related Professions, a School of Graduate Studies, a School of Public Health, University Hospital of Brooklyn, and an Advanced Biotechnology Park and Biotechnology Incubator. The University Physicians of Brooklyn, Inc. (UPB) offers the Faculty Practice Management Plan of SUNY Downstate. UPS comprises of 18 clinical departments with various specialties and subspecialties. The University Hospital of Brooklyn is the academic medical center, which provides patient care, education, research and community services for the nearly five million people living in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
