Targanta Therapeutics Corp.
Targanta Therapeutics Corporation (Targanta) is a bio-pharmaceutical company that is focused on developing and commercializing innovative antibiotics used in the treatment of serious infections in the hospital and other institutional settings. Its pipeline includes an intravenous version of oritavancin, which is a semi-synthetic lipoglycopeptide antibiotic, and a program to develop an oral version of oritavancin for the possible treatment of Clostidium difficile-related infection. The company also has other pipeline products in antibacterial agents, in pre-clinical development that target Clostridium difficile-related conditions. As of 26 February 2009, Targanta has been acquired by The Medicines Company and is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the US.
