The Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, CAS
The Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) (SIOC) is a research institution in organic chemistry. The company is engaged in basic research, application research and high-tech innovation research. Founded in May, 1950 following the merger of the Institute of Chemistry of the former Central Academy of Sciences with the Institute of Chemistry and Institute of Materia Medica of the former Peking Academy of Sciences, it has made prominent advances in partial fluorine polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) and has made contributions to the development of national science, economy and defense. It is engaged on stimulating applied research and development of fluorine-containing plastics and functional materials; brush-electroplate techniques and a series of electroplate-solution prescription; key materials and chemicals for the atomic bomb, hydrogen bomb and several satellite projects; and chemical software and a series of chemical databases. SIOC is the primary shareholder of Shanghai TL Chemical Company that develop and commercialize PEM and MEA technologies. SIOC is headquartered in Shanghai, China.
