National Microbiology Laboratory
National Microbiology Laboratory (NML) is a laboratory engaged in providing services for identification, control and prevention of infectious diseases. The activities of NML include, support to epidemiology programs, reference microbiology, surveillance, emergency response, applied and discovery research, and management of intellectual assets for the promotion of public health in Canada and internationally. NML is conducting programs in the following fields: enterics and bacteriology, creutzfeldt-jakob disease, viral diseases zoonotic diseases and special pathogens (ZDSP). NML is equipped with laboratories ranging from bio-safety level 2 to level 4 developed to accommodate the most basic to the most deadly infectious organisms. NML is headquartered at Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada
