American Psychiatric Association
American Psychiatric Association (APA) is a specialty medical organization engaged in providing medical services in the mental health with 38,000 physicians. It provides education, awareness through its publications and conducts research programs to enhance the patient care. APA conducts research activities in mental health services with the American Psychiatric Institute for Research and Education (APIRE) and the Division of Research (DoR). APA uses Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), a tool used for collecting and communicating accurate public health statistics, which can be used by psychiatrists, physicians, psychologists, social workers, nurses, rehabilitation therapists, and counselors to ensure effective treatment for all the people with mental disorders. APA is headquartered in Virginia, the US.
