JCR Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. (JCR Pharmaceuticals) is a publicly held pharmaceutical company. It is engaged in the manufacture, purchase, sale, import, and export of pharmaceutical products in Japan. The company operates in two segments. Through the first segment, the company offers products including hormones, digestive agents, metabolic agents, circulatory agents and pharmaceutical raw materials. In December 2009, GlaxoSmithKline plc entered into a licensing agreement with the company, for global rights to two projects, including a biosimilar erythropoietin. As a part of the agreement, the company will collaborate with GlaxoSmithKline to jointly develop and promote a generic drug for lysosome disease, which causes swelling of the heart due to a chromosome defect. Recently the company obtained marketing approval of "Epoetin alfa BS Inj. JCR" in Japan for treatment of renal anemia. JCR Pharmaceuticals is headquartered in Ashiya-shi, Japan.
