The New York Times Company (NYTC) is one of the leading diversified media companies in the US. The company is engaged in newspapers, Internet and radio broadcasting activities. NYTC, through its subsidiaries and joint ventures, also holds investments in paper mills and other businesses. The company operates through two business segments, namely, the News Media Group (which includes The New York Times Media Group, the New England Media Group and the Regional Media Group business units) and the About Group. It distributes its newspapers across all the 50 states of the US, and other parts of the world including the UK, Hong Kong, Germany, Malaysia, Italy, Singapore, and Brazil. NYTC is headquartered in New York, the US.The company reported revenues of (U.S. Dollars) USD 2,440.44 million during the fiscal year ended December 2009, a decrease of 16.99% from 2008. The operating profit of the company was USD 64.81 million during the fiscal year 2009, whereas the company reported an operating loss of USD 41.19 million during 2008. The net profit of the company was USD 19.89 million during the fiscal year 2009, whereas the company reported a net loss of USD 57.84 million during 2008.
