Epocal Inc. (Epocal) is a medical device manufacturing company principally engaged in the design, development and marketing of diagnostic products for the in-vitro diagnostic markets. The company develops point-of-care blood diagnostic systems consisting of biosensors and wireless card readers that have wireless connectivity to a PDA analyzer which delivers lab quality results. Its products are developed using its patented FlexCard technology and are used in hospitals for centralized data management which is also used for hematology, homeostasis and immuno-assay tests and delivers lab quality results. Recently, the company received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorization to market its new glucose test on the epoc Blood Analysis System. Epocal is headquartered in Ontario, Canada.
In 2010, Epocal entered into an agreement with Inverness Medical Innovations, Inc. to distribute its epoc Blood Analysis System for blood gas and electrolyte testing.
