Repros Therapeutics, Inc., (Repros) is the US based development stage biopharmaceutical company. It is engaged in developing oral small molecule drugs for the treatment of male and female reproductive disorders. The product pipeline of the company includes Proellex which is a selective blocker of the progesterone receptor; and Androxal which is a single isomer of clomiphene citrate and an orally active small molecule compound. Repros is developing Proellex for three indications such as chronic treatment of symptoms associated with uterine fibroids, anemia associated with uterine fibroids, and chronic treatment of symptoms associated with endometriosis. On 3 August 2009, it voluntarily suspended dosing of all patients in its clinical trials of Proellex. The company developing Androxal to restores normal pituitary response in men resulting in normalization of testosterone and luteinizing hormone levels. Repros also initiated a Phase 2b Androxal clinical trial in men of reproductive age with low testosterone levels. In addition, the company planning to submit a new IND to the division of Metabolic and Endocrine Products (DMEP) of the FDA, to study the effects of Androxal in men with type two diabetes and low testosterone. Further, it continues limited out-licensing efforts for its phentolamine-based product candidates, including VASOMAX for the treatment of male erectile dysfunction. Repros currently not conducting any operations related to clinical trials. is headquartered in The Woodlands, the US.
In October 2009, the company amended its licensing agreement with National Institutes of Health (NIH), for the rights to Proellex. As per the terms of the amended agreement, NIH received licensing rights to Proellex, and also revised the existing milestones and dates for performance.The company reported revenues of (U.S. Dollars) USD 0.55 million during the fiscal year ended December 2009, an increase of 27.25% over 2008. The operating loss of the company was USD 27.23 million during the fiscal year 2009, as compared to an operating loss of USD 25.20 million during 2008. The net loss of the company was USD 27.23 million during the fiscal year 2009, as compared to a net loss of USD 25.20 million during 2008.
