Electro-Optical Sciences, Inc. (MELA Sciences) is a medical technology company. The company is focused on developing, designing and commercialization of a non-invasive, point-of-care instrument which assist in the early diagnosis of melanoma. The company is also called as MELA Sciences. The company designed a hand-held imaging device called Mela Find which emits multiple wavelengths of light to capture images of suspicious pigmented skin lesions, extracts data and compares them to other malignant and benign lesions stored in a database, and provides information about whether they should be biopsied. The company submitted its pre-market approval application (PMA) for Melafind to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in June 2009 to begin commercially marketing the point-of-care product. The company is headquartered in Irvington, the US.
