Louisville Water Company
Louisville Water Company (LWC) is engaged in supply of water. It supplies water to Louisville metro and parts of Bullitt, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Nelson Counties. LWC gets water from Ohio river. In 2008, the company has delivered 130 million gallons of water per day through 4,080 miles of water main. It has two water treatment plants Crescent Hill plant and Payne plant. Crescent Hill plant has the capacity to treat 180 million gallons per day and Payne plant can treat 60 million gallons per day. LWC is currently constructing The Riverbank filtration(RBF) tunnel and pump station project near its BE Payne plant. Riverbank Filtration (RBF) is a process of purifing water by removing particles and contaminants from the raw river water. LWC is spending $38 Million for RBF project. RBF project will be operational by 2010.
