Wharton County Electric Cooperative, Inc. (WCEC) is an electric distribution utility, engaged in distribution and transmission of electric power. The company also provides economical and reliable electric energy service to its members. WCEC`s 864 distribution and 66 G&T cooperatives serve about 39 million people across 47 states which include 17 million businesses, homes, schools, churches, farms, irrigation systems, and other establishments in 2,500 of 3,141 counties in the US. Its density of distribution line is about 33.9 generating around $60,827 revenue per mile of line. WCEC owns assets worth $92 billion. In addition, it also owns and maintains a 2.4 million miles of electric distribution lines.
The company also offers two types of internet services, namely, wireless internet and satellite internet. In addition, it is currently using WildBlue Satellite Broadband which is 30 times faster than conventional dial-up.
