Niska Gas Storage
Niska Gas Storage (Niska) is the major natural gas storage company in North America. The company has about 164 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of working gas capacity which include its three storages, the AECO Hub - 125 Bcf in Alberta, Wild Goose - 24 Bcf in Northern California and Salt Plains - 15 Bcf in Oklahoma. Niska has a long term contract for 8.5 Bcf of storage capacity from a pipeline in the midcontinent. Further, the company also offers natural gas marketing services to the Oklahoma energy market as a natural extension of its commercial storage activities in the mid-continent region. Niska is headquartered at Calgary in Alberta, Canada.
Niska formed a wholly owned subsidiary named as Access Gas Services in 2006, to provide commercial, industrial and retail natural gas marketing services. The company is principally owned by the Carlyle/Riverstone Global Energy and Power Funds.
