Huaneng Power International, Inc.
Huaneng Power International, Inc. (HPI) is an independent power producer. The company along with its subsidiaries develops, constructs, operates and manages large thermal and hydro power plants across China. It owns around 17 operating power plants and has controlling interests in 13 operating power plants and minority interests in five operating power companies. As of March 2010, its plants have total controlling generating capacity of 49,443 MW and a total generating capacity of 45,912MW on an equity basis. In 2009, its total domestic power generation was 203.520 billion kWh. HPI also operates a power plant in Singapore. The company is controlled by Huaneng International Power Development Corporation (HIPDC) and Huaneng Group, which holds 42.03% and 8.92% of its share, respectively. It is headquartered in Beijing, China.
