Whitby Cogeneration L.P.
Whitby Cogeneration L.P. (Whitby Cogen) is a subsidiary of Calpine Corporation. It is a 50 Megawatt power generating plant. Calpine owns 50% of interest in this facility. Whitby Cogen is principally engaged in the generation of electricity and steam. The company generates electricity and supplies to the Ontario Electricity Financial Corporation under 20 years agreement. The plant uses natural gas as primary source of fuel and simple cycle technology to generate electricity. Whitby Cogen uses Rolls Royce combustion turbines. The generation facility is also engaged in supplying steam to a commercial customer, under a contract till 2019. Whitby Cogen is headquartered in Ontario, Canada.
