Vermont Public Power Supply Authority
Vermont Public Power Supply Authority (VPPSA) is a private authority of the State of Vermont, empowered to provide wholesale and retail power. The authority mainly renders wholesale power to over 17 municipals and cooperatives across New England. It also provides other services such as, rate studies, central computer services, load forecasting, and tax free financing of certain capital projects. VPPSA has undertaken several projects such as, McNeil Generating Station, a wood fired electric generating plant; operates Highgate Interconnection Facility, a AC-DC-AC converter station with the Trans Energie system; and is planning to construct a 40MW peaking plant in Swanton, Vermont. Further, the authority operates as a dispatch pool for its member base and other interested parties as aggregated loads within that pool. Currently, VPPSA provides power transactions for approximately 120 MW of load annually. It has spanned its operation throughout the region and caters to the requirements within the domestic and nearby market. The authority is headquartered in Vermont, the United States.
