Vermont Electric Cooperative, Inc. (VEC) is a member-owned, not-for-profit electricity distribution cooperative. The company is engaged in supplying retail electricity and providing related services to various commercial, business and residential customers. The company is owned by the member it serves. The customers who purchase electricity from VEC are the members and owners of the cooperative. The company serves around 34,000 customer members and 37,279 meters across 74 towns in the northern part of Vermont. It is the third largest electric distribution utility in Vermont. The company is focusing on advanced metering system and presently, it has installed around 30,500 smart meters through Advance Meter Infrastructure (AMI) technology to connect in the region. It has service centers at Grand Isle, Newport and Richford towns. It is headquartered in Vermont, the US.
