Bainounah Power Company
Bainounah Power Company (BPC) is an electric utility company, engaged in generating power and desalination of water. The company was formed as a public joint stock company with the aromatization of the former Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Department (WED) in the year 1999.
BPC operates two power stations namely Abu Dhabi Power Station and Al Ain Power Station, combined together has the total installed capacity to produce 1216 MW of electricity and 44 MGD (million gallons per day) of desalinated water. In peak, it produces approximately one third of the total electricity and one fifth of the desalinated water produced by the former WED. The company utilizes gas and diesel as primary source of fuel mix to generate electricity. It serves both residential and commercial customers of Abu Dhabi.
