Wisconsin Institute of Nuclear Systems
Wisconsin Institute of Nuclear Systems (WINS) is a research organization. It is an operating center of the university of Wisconsin-Madison. WINS is actively engaged in research, education, and public services related to the technical issues of nuclear systems. It is principally focused on the advanced nuclear energy applications such as generation IV fission reactors, fusion reactor system technologies and micro-nuclear power. Research areas of this center include health physics, multiphase flow, materials science, neutronics and reactor physics. The center has facilities such as tantalus laboratory for large scale safety experiments; liquid metals laboratory for small scale engineering material experiments and thermal-hydraulics laboratory for multiphase experiments. It supports Atomic Energy of Canada, European Joint Research Center-ISPRA and United Kingdom Atomic Energy Agency. WINS is headquartered in Madison, the US.
