Comision Nacional de Seguridad Nuclear y Salvaguardias
Collision National de Seguridad Nuclear y Salvaguardias (CNSNS) is a decentralized body of the Ministry of Energy. In 1979, the National Institute on Nuclear Energy was split into the National Institute of Nuclear Research (ININ), Mexican Uranium (Uramex) and the National Commission on Nuclear Safety and Safeguards (CNSNS). CNSNS principally focuses on ensuring the proper application of regulations and safeguards for nuclear and radiation safety and for physical protection of nuclear and radiological installations to ensure public safety. Its activities also include revising, evaluating and approving the criteria for the siting, design construction operation and decommissioning of nuclear installations, proposing the relevant regulations. The commission has authority to amend of suspend the licenses of nuclear facilities, which are granted on CNSNS approval through the Ministry of Energy. In addition, it provides information resources and documents on nuclear safety, radiological protection, probabilistic safety analysis, and operational experience in operating power stations Core. The commission is headquartered in Delegacion Benito Juarez, Mexico.
