GDF SUEZ (GDF Suez) is a European energy company, engaged in the fields of electricity generation and distribution, natural gas and renewable energy. The company is present across the entire energy value chain, in electricity and natural gas, from upstream to downstream. It is present in over 30 countries including France, Belgium and the Netherlands. It is headquartered in Paris, France. The business activities of the company include purchasing, production and marketing of natural gas and electricity; transportation, distribution, management and development of major infrastructures for natural gas and electricity; and development and marketing of energy services and environmental services. The company is the world's second-largest utility and was formed by the merger of Gaz de France and SUEZ on 22 July 2008.The company reported revenues of (Euro) EUR 67,924.00 million during the fiscal year ended December 2008, an increase of 147.65% over 2007. The operating profit of the company was EUR 7,679.00 million during the fiscal year 2008, an increase of 98.22% over 2007. The net profit of the company was EUR 4,857.00 million during the fiscal year 2008, an increase of 96.48% over 2007.
