(Adams Resources) is a holding company that operates through its subsidiaries, both of which are engaged in oil and gas exploration and production, transportation of liquid chemicals, and marketing of crude oil, natural gas, and related petroleum products. It is headquartered at Houston in Texas, the US.

The major subsidiaries of the company include Adams Resources Exploration Corporation, Service Transport Company (STC), Gulfmark Energy, Inc. (Gulfmark), Adams Resources Marketing, Ltd. (ARM), and Ada Resources, Inc. (Ada). Adams Resources Exploration Corporation is engaged in the exploration and development of domestic oil and gas properties mainly in the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana. Apart from the domestic oil and gas interests, it also holds a 40 percent stake in an offshore block in the United Kingdom sector of the Southern North Sea. Service Transport, transports liquid chemicals to its customers in the U.S. and Canada on a ‘for hire` basis. GulfMark purchases and sells crude oil to refineries and other customers. Adams Resources Marketing Ltd. of the company is engaged in purchase, distribution, and marketing of natural gas on a wholesale basis. While, Ada markets branded and unbranded refined petroleum products, including motor fuels and lubricants.The company reported revenues of (U.S. Dollars) USD 4,159.67 million during the fiscal year ended December 2008, an increase of 57.79% over 2007. The operating loss of the company was USD 11.47 million during the fiscal year 2008, as against an operating income of USD 23.91 million during 2007. The net loss of the company was USD 5.57 million during the fiscal year 2008, as against a net profit of USD 17.06 million during 2007.
