SGL Carbon SE (SGL), formerly known as SGL Carbon AG is engaged in the manufacture of carbon products, graphite products and composite materials. The company also manufactures natural and synthetic graphite products for a variety of industrial applications worldwide. It operates through three business units namely, Performance Products (PP), Graphite Materials & Systems (GMS) and Carbon Fibers & Composites (CFC). The major industries served by the company include steel, aluminum, automotive, chemical, semiconductor, wind energy, solar power, battery, and environmental protection industries, as well as defense, aerospace, and nuclear energy companies. The company is headquartered at Wiesbaden, Germany.The company reported revenues of (Euro) EUR 1,225.80 million during the fiscal year ended December 2009, a decrease of 23.93% from 2008. The operating profit of the company was EUR 36.40 million during the fiscal year 2009, a decrease of 88.10% from 2008. The net loss of the company was EUR 60.40 million during the fiscal year 2009, as against a net profit of EUR 189.60 million during 2008.
