The Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority
The Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) is a government owned organization engaged in producing, transmitting and distributing electricity to its customers across the island of Puerto Rico. It serves more than 1,388,478 residential, industrial and commercial customers through 24 technical service offices, 35 client service offices, and seven regional offices. PREPA comprises modern electric power system consisting of power generation, transmission and distribution networks. The company has an installed capacity of 4,393 MW, and five power plants. Its transmission network comprises 2,182 miles of 230 KV transmission lines, 115 KV, and 38 KV sub-transmission lines. PREPA has a distribution network of 27,838 aerial miles and 1,076 underground miles.
