CONSOL Energy Inc. (CONSOL Energy) is a multi-fuel energy producers and energy services provider. The company produces coal and gas principally for the electric power generation industry as well as metallurgical coal for metal and coke producers. It produces high-Btu bituminous coal and coalbed methane gas. The company has 16 mining complexes in the US and coal reserves of 4.5 billion tons. Further, the company, through its subsidiary CNX Gas Corporation (CNX Gas), produces pipeline-quality coalbed methane gas from its coal properties and oil and gas from properties in the Appalachian and Illinois Basins. CNX Gas, also owns a 50% interest in an 88-megawatt (MW), gas-fired electric generating facility. In addition to its coal and gas operations, CONSOL Energy is also engaged in other energy businesses and services, which include river and ocean transportation services and industrial supply sales. Besides, the company is also engaged in research and development activities related to coal and energy utilization and production. The company has over 90 customers. It is headquartered in Pennsylvania, the US.

In 2010, the company signed an acquisition agreement with Dominion Resources, Inc. for the Appalachian exploration and production business which is expected to completed by April 30, 2010.
