Tata Motors Limited (Tata Motors) is India's largest automobile company. It principally engages in the manufacture of passenger cars, utility vehicles, trucks, buses and defense vehicles.
Through its subsidiaries, Tata Motors is also engaged in the engineering and automotive solutions, construction equipment manufacturing, automotive vehicle components manufacturing and supply chain activities.
Tata Motors also produces machine tools and factory automation solutions, high-precision tooling, plastic and electronic components for automotive and computer applications. It also distributes and markets Fiat branded cars in India.
The company with principal operations in India exports its vehicles to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia and South America. Tata Motors is headquartered in Mumbai, India.
The company reported revenues of (Rupee) INR 717,378.10 million during the fiscal year ended March 2009, an increase of 99.67% over 2008. The operating loss of the company was INR 21,292.50 million during the fiscal year 2009, as against an operating income of INR 30,862.90 million during 2008. The net loss of the company was INR 25,052.50 million during the fiscal year 2009, as against a net profit of INR 21,677.00 million during 2008.
