Wincanton Renews Logistics Contract with Mattel
By NS Admin Published 02 February 2011The contract was originally secured in 1999 and builds upon a long-established partnership. Wincanton will continue to be Mattel’s sole distributor in the UK.
Operating from its Corby distribution center, Wincanton delivers co-packing and product manipulation services to a range of Mattel products, before managing distribution to some of the UK’s largest retailers.
This activity also includes covering the goods in peak period that runs from August to December 2011, which is Mattel’s busiest business cycle in the run up to Christmas. In 2009, Wincanton handled over 1.5 million cases during this five-month period.
Chris Kingshott, managing director of Wincanton, said: “This contract renewal is great news for Wincanton and the Corby Distribution Center, and we are delighted to be continuing our relationship with Mattel. The agreement is testament to the operational excellence we achieve for this customer, working in partnership with them to support their business needs, particularly during challenging periods.â€
David Rhodes, Northern European supply chain director at Mattel said: “Wincanton has been our trusted logistics partner for over ten years now, providing seamless support for UK offer through its Corby distribution center.
“This site is the hub for all of our products for this market, and Wincanton’s ability to handle peaks in activity over the Christmas trading period is crucial to our business. We look forward to continuing to work with the team.â€
