US Airways March Traffic Down
By NS Admin Published 06 April 2010Consolidated capacity measured in available seat miles was 6.15 billion in March 2010, down 1.8 percent versus, compared to 6.26 billion for March 2009.
Consolidated passenger load factor for the month of March 2010 was 82.6 percent, down 1.3 points, compared to 81.3 percent for March 2009.
For the year-to-date 2010, the airline reported consolidated traffic of 13.51 billion RPMs, down two percent versus same period in 2009. Capacity was 17.28 billion available seat miles, down 2.6 percent compared to the same period of 2009. Total consolidated passenger load factor for the year-to-date 2010 was 78.2 percent, up 0.5 points versus year-to-date 2009.
Scott Kirby, president of US Airways, said: “Our March consolidated (mainline and Express) passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) increased approximately 18 percent versus the same period last year while total revenue per available seat mile increased approximately 20 percent on a year-over-year basis. The positive momentum that we have seen in the revenue environment has continued with particularly strong year-over-year growth in booked yields.”
