Star Transportation Selects SkyBitz Asset Tracking Solution

Star Transportation will now be able to drive more efficient asset utilization across their fleet to reduce empty miles, create fuel savings, and reduce its capital expenditures through the use of SkyBitz trailer tracking on its existing fleet.

Star Transportation has ordered 1,300 SkyBitz mobile terminal units across its fleet, providing visibility to the exact location and status of all its trailers at any time.

The Gemini GLS400 coupled with web-based application, SkyBitz InSight, provides managers the ability to view assets in real-time and run customizable management and operational reports for each trailer in their fleet. All of this allows them to proactively monitor and identify any potential issues before they disrupt a customer’s supply chain.

Henry Popplewell, senior vice president of sales at SkyBitz, said: “With the recent sharp increase in demand for trucking services the capacity issue has become more acute for carriers. Our solution can help customers unlock hidden capacity in their fleet through better utilization of their existing assets.”

SkyBitz is a provider of remote asset management solutions, providing real-time information on the location and status of assets. The company delivers its solution via SkyBitz Insight, a secure web-based application that is fully customizable and requires no software downloads.

SkyBitz is backed by Garvin Hill Capital Partners, Highstar Capital, Inverness Graham Investments, Motorola Ventures and ITV, a fund of Cordova Ventures. Star Transportation is an irregular route, dry van truckload carrier.
