Logwin Acquires New Customer for Media Business
By NS Admin Published 01 April 2011The logistics service provider transports returned press products, reprocessed goods, empty containers and waste materials such as cardboard and plastic in the daily round trip between the Vienna location of Valora Services Austria and Logwin's site in Senec, Slovakia.
The returned press products consist of unsold magazines and trading card sets that newsagents in Austria have sent back. Valora Services Austria makes the print products available for collection in Vienna, and Logwin transports them to Senec, situated 90 kilometers away.
Twelve Logwin employees process returned print products for Valora Services Austria at the warehouse in Senec, which covers 5,000 m². Staff first use barcode scanners to make a record of all returned shipments and this forms the basis for accounting purposes with Austrian newsagents.
Valora Services Austria instructs its logistics service provider, Logwin, via an IT connection about how it should process the returned goods. Logwin employees place the returned goods into the sorting system provided by the customer in accordance with the instructions given, with most returned goods being disposed of professionally, while approximately 30 per cent of print products are prepared for re-use.
Fritz Koch, head of logistics at Valora Services Austria, said: “Our principal requirement in this logistics project is absolute dependability. This is why we place our trust in the professional competence of Logwin as an experienced logistics partner for the media sector.â€
Mario Aschbacher, head of sales and key account management in the Logwin business segment Solutions, said: “We anticipate in excess of ten million returned print products per year. The largest share of the returned goods is accounted for by magazines while trading card sets make up about one quarter.â€
Will the acquisition benefit Logwin?
