Cisco invests in WiFi RFID
San Mateo, California-based AeroScout plans to spend the money on sales and marketing. The company's products enable enterprises to use Cisco WiFi networks to locate and manage assets using RFID. The AeroScout system includes real-time location services, long-range active RFID, telemetry and choke-point visibility. "This relationship will better enable the two companies to take advantage of the strong synergies between Cisco's wireless networking equipment and AeroScout's Active RFID solutions," said AeroScout chief Yuval Bar-Gil, in a statement. As part of the deal, Cisco gains a minority equity stake in AeroScout.
