Telkom to acquire stake in Bakrie
By NS Admin Published 02 December 2009Earlier in October 2008, Bakrie has announced to sell stakes in several of its major subsidiaries in order to settle debts thought to be worth $1.2 billion, according to TeleGeography. At the end of October 2008, Indonesia's stock exchange suspended trading in shares of Bakrie Telecom to avoid an unnatural movement of the shares.
“On the consolidation possibility, yes. But I don't know when,” Mr Asno said without elaborating. Due to a tough competition among the country's mobile phone operators throughout 2009, most of the operators have seen drop in revenues. For the third quarter 2009, Telkom has posted a revenue of $1.74 billion. Telkom is expected to post single-digit growth in revenue in 2010.
