Hitachi, Sony and Toshiba receive US DoJ subpoenas
The DoJ has ordered Hitachi-LG Data Storage and Toshiba Samsung Storage Technology Corporation to provide information, and asked Sony Optiarc America to cooperate, reported Bloomberg citing a report.
The three Japanese firms facing investigations have assured to co-operate the investigating agencies.
In the recent times, the DoJ has started investigating optical disk drives makers for possible price-fixing, bid-rigging and allocation of markets.
Yuuki Sakurai, CEO of Fukoku Capital Management, as quoted by Bloomberg, said: “It’s really hard to judge the impact of such cases, because the companies are limited in what they can disclose about the investigations. For now, the market is not terribly concerned as these operations are not absolutely crucial for the companies.”
